The Rite of Water

The Rite of Water is an imagined life of the poet Hart Crane. Utilizing parts of Crane’s poetry, the play detailed points in the life of the troubled poet’s life before his suicide at 32. The play was commissioned by The Pop-UP Museum of Queer History as part of their Out on the (Queer) Waterfront: Brooklyn Histories and premiered at the Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook Brooklyn on October 24, 2013. The play starred Chris Tyler as Crane with an ensemble of Alston Brown, Nicholas Gorham, Ryan Streit, and Justin Sayre.
